Gamsutl, Russia ⠀ In the Gunibsky district of Dagestan, on the crest of the Gamsutlmeer mountain, there is a beautiful Avar village, the ghost of Gamsutl. This aul is one of the oldest in the territory of Dagestan. ⠀ You can get to the village only along a narrow path that was once expensive. Of course, in the aul there were shops, a post office, a club, it used to be a mosque, a school, a hospital, a maternity hospital, and even a mobile cinema came to the aul. But still, the inhabitants gradually left the village, leaving their homes, and about forty years ago, the aul was almost completely empty. ⠀ Well, we begin our TOP-5 things to do when we are in Dagestan: ⠀ 1. Visit the Naryn-Kala fortress in Derbent. The famous ancient Derbent fortress, which turned the city into a "Closed Gate". 2. Take a walk along the Sarykum Barkhan. This dune is one of the highest in the world, located on the outskirts of mountain Dagestan. Its height is more than 250 m, and the size and shape of the peaks are constantly changing by the will of the winds. 3. Get stuck in the Karadakh gorge. “Gate of Miracles”, “Shale Gorge” are informal names for the Karadakh Gorge. Only 5 m wide (in some areas even less - up to 2 m) and as much as 150 m in height. 4. Thaw from the beauty of the Sulak canyon. One of the most striking and exciting natural attractions of Dagestan. It stretches for tens of kilometers north of the Girminsky ridge, where the Sulak River originates. 5. For fresh air and beautiful mountain landscapes, you should go to the Tlyaratinsky nature reserve. ⠀ Perhaps some of you have been to these places of Dagestan and not only?
