⠀
The small Belgian Dinan is located about 30 km from Charleroi and 15 km from the nearest border with France.
⠀
The town is very small, but stunningly beautiful thanks to the rock, on the background of which the river Meuse rolls its waters and an unusual city cathedral rises, behind it you can see a military old fortress. And here was born the inventor of the saxophone.
⠀
When exactly Dinan appeared on the map of Europe is not really known. But it is known that, being in the very center of the continent, about two hundred times it was attacked by one or the other. Dinan was owned by the Spaniards, the Netherlands, the French, the Belgians, the Germans. He was bought and sold, captured by force, transferred under international treaties, exchanged for other cities.
⠀
Save the post, we are starting our TOP 5 things to do in Dinan:
⠀
1. Ride on the Meuse on a boat. In Dinan, the river offers magnificent views of the cathedral, rock and fortress.
2. Visit the museum of the Sachs house and take a picture with its bronze sculpture.
3. Take a walk along the promenade along the river Meuse. The walk will not be fast - the length of the promenade is 4 km.
4. Taste the local solid stone honey gingerbread "Cucé de Dinan." If of course it turns out to gnaw.
5. Climb to the rock fortress. There are two ways: to climb the cable car or your own two, overcoming more than 4 hundred rocky steps. But the most persistent will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the river from above and stunning views of the Notre Dame Cathedral.
